Aftershock Fastpitch 14u picks up win before falling to Phantoms to end weekend

Aftershock Fastpitch 14u got back on track by starting the day strong in bracket play on Sunday at the Salute to Service tournament in Kent, Ohio. Facing the Quakes 08 team, the Aftershock 14u was led by an incredible offensive performance by Maddie Drew. The shortstop scored three extra-base hits with an RBI double and two homers to drive in 6 on the day in an 11-3 win. Drew’s three hits were a team high as the team had eight hits with Sidney Miller adding two herself. Add in 8 stolen bases and it was clear that Aftershock was not going to go quietly after a disappointing start to the weekend saw the team drop two games on Friday night.

After an 0-2 start in pool play on Friday night, the win got the team back on track to improve their overall record to 9-4-1 on the season. “It was great to see our girls fired up and come out ready to compete on Saturday morning,” said head coach George Frasure.

Aftershock’s 14u team next faced a tough Phantoms 14u team where they fell, 8-1. While Sidney Miller and Lily Walker were able to team up with back-to-back doubles in the top of the 2nd inning to get the scoring underway, the Phantoms’ bats proved to be strong as they racked up 9 hits in the win to eliminate Aftershock Fastpitch 14u from the tournament.

Aftershock Fastpitch 14u is back in action the weekend of June 9-11 with details to be announced.
